  1. 2024년 가을 문화강좌
    주캐나다한국문화원에서 2024년 가을 문화강좌를 시작합니다. 2024 Fall K-Academy in Ottawa / Toronto / Montreal   The Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to announce that the 2024 Fall K-Culture Courses will start in September. The classes will start in September and end in November. We are introducing Korean music, dance, tea and art classes in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal this semester. Each class requires separate registration, please read the course details carefully before submitting your application form.   KCC (Ottawa) 1. Haegeum The haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings. Time: 17:30 - 19:00 (ET) Period: Every Wednesday, September 4 – November 27 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Beginner Fee: $100 deposit in cash required for instrument rental.   2. Hanji Craft Hanji crafts are everyday products made with a type of traditional paper that comes from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Time: 15:00 - 17:00 (ET) Period: Every Tuesday, September 3 – November 19 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Beginner   3. Minhwa Minhwa means popular painting or people's art and is traditional Korean folk art from the Chosun era (1392-1910) painted onto paper or on canvas. Time: 17:30 - 19:30 (ET) Period: Every Tuesday, September 3 – November 19 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Intermediate (previous experience required; returning students welcome)   4. Nanta Nanta is a traditional style of drumming dramatizing the rhythms of Samulnori using the traditional Korean barrel drum called Buk. The course includes both nanta and samgomu(standing) drums. Time: 17:00 - 19:00 (ET) Period: Every Tuesday, September 10 - November 26, 2024 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Beginner   5. K-Pop Dance Beginner Time: 18:00 - 19:30 (ET) Period: Every Wednesday, September 4 – November 27 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Beginner   6. K-Pop Dance Intermediate Please note that this course is intended for participants with previous experience. Time: 15:00 - 16:30 (ET) Period: Every Friday, September 6 – November 22 (12 sessions) Location: KCC (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa) Level: Intermediate     Toronto 7. Korean Tea Discover the art of Korean tea appreciation, complemented by a selection of snacks and engaging activities. Time: 19:00 - 20:30 (ET) Period: Every Tuesday, September 3 – November 26 (12 sessions) Location: 918 Bathurst Centre (918 Bathurst St, Toronto, ON M5R 3G5) Level : Beginner   8. Pansori Pansori is a traditional Korean genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer. This course will include collaborative activities and group performances to enhance the storytelling experience. Time: 18:30 - 20:00 (ET) Period: Every Wednesday, September 4 – November 27 (12 sessions) Location: Miles Nadal JCC (750 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5S 2J2) Level: Beginner   Montreal 9. Sagunja The Four Gracious Plants (plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum, and bamboo) symbolize the spirit of classical scholars from the Joseon dynasty era. Time: 09:15 - 11:15 (ET) Period: Every Saturday, September 7 – November 23, 2024 (12 sessions) Location: Centre d’ACIM (1022 Rue Jean-Talon O, Montreal, QC H3N 1T1) Level: Beginner   10. Bojagi Learn the traditional Korean art of fabric wrapping with bojagi, a Korean wrapping cloth. Time: 18:00 - 19:30 (ET) Period: Every Wednesday, September 4 – November 20 (12 sessions) Location: Goethe-Institut Montreal (1626 Boul. Saint-Laurent Bureau 100, Montreal, QC H2X 2T1) Level: Beginner     Online 11. Traditional Korean Dance Time: 18:00 - 20:00 (ET) Period: Every Monday, September 2 – November 25 (12 sessions) Location: Online (Zoom) Level: Beginner   12. Online K-Pop Dance Beginner Time: 15:00 - 17:00 (ET) Period: Every Monday, September 2 – November 25 (12 sessions) Location: Online (Zoom) Level: Beginner   13. Online K-Pop Dance Intermediate Time: 15:00 - 17:00 (ET) Period: Every Tuesday, September 3 – November 19 (12 sessions) Location: Online (Zoom) Level: Intermediate (previous experience recommended)     *IMPORTANT* 1. A separate application is required for each course. 2. Submitting an application does not automatically register you for the course. 3. Each applicant must use a unique email address. Please avoid applying for multiple individuals using a single email. 4. Photos and videos taken during the course may be used in KCC's promotional materials. 5. New applicants will receive priority (excluding the Intermediate Minhwa course). 6. K-Academy programs are free of charge, so attendance is crucial after registration.
