2022 Korea Week

The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS, director PARK, Myungsoon), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (Ambassador CHANG, Kyeong-Ryong) and the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC, director LEE, Sungeun) host a cultural festival in Ottawa, Ontario on Asian Heritage Month. With most pandemic restrictions eased or lifted, the festival aims to introduce Korean culture first-hand to Canadians exhausted from extended public health restrictions. Starting with the Korean music performances and outdoor screening on May 21, the KCC holds many events throughout the festival, including performances from Jeollabuk-Do, a province known for traditions and customs, and will last until June 2.


1. Outdoor K-Music & K-Cinema




Time & Date: Saturday, May 21, 2022

DescriptionThe K-music performance showcases array of traditional instruments such as heageum, drums (nanta) and samgomu, as well as contemporary k-pop. K-Cinema will present <Moving On>, a family film by director Yoon at 20:30.

2. K-Pop MV Contest




Time & Date: Tuesday, May 24 ~ June 30, 2022 

Description: Re-create your favourite K-Pop artists’ MV or create your original MV to your favourite K-Pop song, and be a part of the KCC’s first K-Pop MV Contest in celebration of the 2022 Korea Week

3. Dano fan making workshop

 Description:  We will decorate a clam-shaped hanji fan with dried flower leaves in this K-Craft: Dano Fan Making workshop

4. Makgeolli brunch online workshop

Description:  Please join us in making your own Makgeolli and Korean food to complement it! The workshop is for adults only, as it involves making traditional Korean wine.

5. The InKoreable Race

DescriptionA team must complete ten missions in order to finish the race successfully. And this means knowing the ins and outs of Korea!

6. K-Food cooking class: Gimbap

7. The Heart of Korea: Jeollabuk-Do Culture Day - Day1

Description: Jeollabuk-Do is one of the provinces (Do) in Korea, also a birthplace of many traditional cultures and arts. The KCC introduces Canada to the customs and traditions of the Jeollabuk-Do in 2020 Korea Week, providing a safe environment to experience the many unique cultures the province offers.
