This March Break, the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) invites families to join two special art workshops inspired by the current exhibition What We Saw, What You See. These hands-on sessions offer a fun and creative way to explore art, movement, and nature while engaging with the exhibition. 🌿 Nature Keyrings Participants will explore the KCC gallery exhibition for inspiration and create a nature-inspired keyring in this hands-on workshop. * Date/Time: March 11, 2025, 10:00–11:30 (ET) * Venue: Korean Cultural Centre Canada (150 Elgin St #101, Ottawa, ON K2P 1L4) * Registration: https://forms.gle/LBiBr6Rz23Dnhpcv5 🕺 Dancers Families will explore the KCC gallery exhibition for inspiration before dancing to the Korean children’s song 그대로 멈춰라 (Geudaero Momchwora, Freeze) and striking creative dance poses. These poses will be transformed into life-sized self-portraits, drawn and painted collaboratively by children and their parents or guardians. Exhibition-Related Workshop: Dancers The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) is excited to present an art workshop for families inspired by the current exhibition What We Saw, What You See. This engaging and creative session will take place on February 14, 2025, from 15:30 to 17:00 at the KCC in Ottawa. Event Details - Date/Time: February 14, 2025, 15:30–17:00 - Venue: Korean Cultural Centre Canada, 150 Elgin St #101, Ottawa, ON K2P 1L4 - Registration: https://forms.gle/9ZGEbcQPpHjNaZux5 (* Due to limited space, only the first 15 applicants will be accepted) Workshop Overview Families will explore the KCC gallery exhibition for inspiration before dancing to the Korean children’s song “그대로 멈춰라 (Geudaero Momchwora, Freeze)” and holding creative dance poses. These poses will be transformed into life-sized self-portraits, drawn and painted collaboratively by children and their parents or guardians. The completed artworks will then be displayed on the workshop walls for everyone to enjoy. This 90-minute art workshop for family is most suitable for children aged 4–10 years old. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All materials will be provided by the KCC, but please dress for a hands-on (and slightly messy!) experience. This workshop, inspired by the artworks by JEONG Minwoo, was initiated and organized by PARK Hyemin, the KCC curator.

The Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to host the <Summer Workshop> for children on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at 5 PM (ET). In this workshop, we will read "엄마는 해녀입니다 (Mom is a Haenyeo)" to learn about the life of haenyeo divers and summer culture in Korea. On Wednesday, May 8th, KCC brought the Korean cultural experience to Nepean High School. The students enjoyed learning about Minhwa, a Korean traditional art and Najeonchilgi, a Korean traditional craft. After, they made Mother of Pearl PopSockets as part of the arts and crafts activity.

On Thursday, May 2nd, KCC invited students participating in Carleton University's EMCP for a field trip at KCC. The students enjoyed learning about Hangeul, Korea's official script and history, by learning how to write their names in Hangeul and make Hangeul stamps.
