2020 Korea Week: 3rd Ottawa Korean Film Festival(OKFF)
synopsis
On the occasion of 2020 Korea Week, the Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to host the 3rd Ottawa Korean Film Festival(OKFF), which will take place online this year from Friday, October 2 to Saturday, October 10. Usually the OKFF takes place in the fall in Ottawa, but this year, it will take place entirely online due to the spread of COVID19, making this year’s selection of Korean films available for streaming across Canada, in the safety and comfort of your homes.
The theme of 3rd OKFF is ‘The World Created by Cinema,’ showcasing a selection of 4 films that represent the unlimited boundaries of the imaginary world created by cinema such as in animation and fantasy.
The 3rd OKFF includes animated adventure of stray dogs in <Underdog (2019), OH Sung-yoon, LEE Chun-baek>, and <Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018), KIM Sok-yun>, a Korean comedy and vampire flick that brings a fresh combination of Joseon period, detective adventure, and vampires.
The OKFF continues with <The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion (2018), PARK Hoon-jung> a mystery action film which unfolds around a girl with special powers who doesn’t realize her powers. The OKFF ends with <Beauty Inside (2015), BAEK Jong-yul> as a fantasy romance about the love of a man who wakes up everyday in a different body.
We hope that ‘The World Created by Cinema’ will be one way to reflect on the real world, after being immersed in these fantastic worlds of K-Cinema.
The 3rd OKFF will be available for free streaming via the Korean Cultural Centre website (www.canada.korean-culture.org). For inquiries, please contact us at 613-233-8008, or canada@korea.kr.
