2017 ICP Korea Forum
On Friday December 8, the Korean Cultural Centre and Ottawa-Carleton District School Board's Ottawa-Carleton Education Network (OCENET) co-hosted the 2017 ICP Korea Forum for local high school students enrolled in the International Certificate Program.
It was an eventful day that saw the forum opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Canada, His Excellency Maeng-ho Shin, followed by remarks from Dr. Jennifer Adams, Director of the OCDSB.
We were also joined by Professor Donald Baker from the University of British Columbia's Department of Asian Studies as a keynote speaker, who provided the participants with his 40+ years experience in studying Korea, allowing students to envision their future in Korea studies and in Korean culture.
The students enjoyed presentations of Korean culture by their peers, topics of which ranged from Korean beauty standards, K-Pop, to the Korean War and Korean mythology and legends. Also, a team of 4 students shared their experiences in visiting Korea this past November in the Jeju Youth Forum, broadening their international outlook and network.
The Forum was capped off with the participants enjoying some cultural experiences by way of traditional games and Korean food!
The Korean Cultural Centre thanks all those who attended this year's Forum, and we look forward to hosting the 2018 ICP Korea Forum!
