The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is excited to announce the launch of the 2026 Fall K-Academy Courses this September. Classes will run from September to November.

This semester, we are offering Korean music, art, dance, sports classes in Ottawa, Toronto, and online.

Each class requires a separate registration. Please read the course details carefully before submitting your application form.

For the in-person classes, participants must be 13 years of age or older. Parents or guardians are responsible for arranging safe transportation to and from the class location, if needed. There is no minimum age requirement for the online classes (except for the online Taekwondo class). However, for younger participants, we kindly recommend that a parent or guardian remain nearby during the class.

Ottawa (KCC)

1. Haegeum (Beginner Level 1) 

The Haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings. 

In this beginner-friendly course, participants will learn the fundamentals of playing the Haegeum, including basic techniques, posture, and simple melodies.

Time: 18:50 - 19:50

Period: Every Wednesday, September 16 – December 2 (10 sessions)

Level: Beginner Level 1

Fee: $100 cash deposit (instrument rental during the course)

2. Haegeum (Beginner Level 2) 

Build on the fundamentals of Haegeum by developing your technique and learning more advanced melodies.

Before registering for the Haegeum Beginner Level 2 class, please ensure you are familiar with the following:

● The Hwang Position

3. Hanji Craft

Hanji is a type of traditional paper used to craft everyday items in Korea. In this course, you will learn how to craft colorful items made from Hanji. Join us for an immersive, hands-on experience in Hanji art!

Time: 17:30 - 19:30

Period: Every Tuesday, September 15 – November 17 (10 sessions)

4. Korean Traditional Dance 

This course introduces students to traditional Korean dance forms such as fan dance and sword dance. Students will also explore contemporary Korean creative dance, learning various styles choreographed to K-pop.

Time: 18:00-20:00

Period: Every Wednesday, September 16 - November 25 (9 sessions)

Level: Open to all experience levels.

5. K-Pop Dance (Beginner)

Discover the basics of K-Pop choreography in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Each week features a different easy-to-learn routine, helping you build coordination, rhythm, and confidence while dancing to popular K-Pop songs.

Period: Every Tuesday, September 15 - November 17 (10 sessions)

6. K-Pop Dance (Intermediate)

Designed for dancers with prior experience, this course features more complex, fast-paced choreography from top K-Pop idol groups. Students will learn full-chorus routines while focusing on technique, stage presence, and precise execution.

Time: 18:30-20:00

Period: Every Thursday, September 17 - November 19 (10 sessions)

7. Pansori & Minyo

Learn traditional Korean vocal music through Pansori and Minyo in this beginner-friendly course. Participants will learn fundamental vocal techniques, breathing, projection, and expressive singing skills. Explore the stories and history behind well-known pieces, from Arirang to the tale of Chunhyang, and discover how these musical traditions reflect Korean culture. No prior experience is required.

8. Taekwondo (Beginner)

Explore the fundamentals of Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, through this beginner-friendly online course. Participants will learn basic techniques, forms, and movements while building strength, coordination, and confidence.

Period: Every Monday, September 14 – November 23 (10 sessions)

9. K-Pop Dance (Beginner)

Learn the basics of K-Pop dance in a fun and supportive online class. Perfect for beginners, this course will help you build confidence while learning choreography to popular K-Pop songs.

10. K-Pop Dance (Intermediate)

Build on your K-Pop dance foundation in this online intermediate class. Participants will learn more challenging choreography to popular K-Pop songs while improving their technique, coordination, and confidence.

6. K-Academy programs have limited spaces and are free of charge. As missing a session takes away an opportunity from someone else, we take attendance seriously. Therefore, anyone who fails to attend classes without a valid reason will be penalized in future registrations for all KCC programs.
