2026 Spring K-Culture Courses in Ottawa / Montreal / Toronto / Online

The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is excited to announce the launch of the 2026 Spring K-Culture Courses this March. Classes will run from March to May.

This semester, we are offering Korean music, art, dance, sport classes in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, and online.


Each class requires a separate registration. Please read the course details carefully before submitting your application form.






Ottawa (KCC)


1. Haegeum (Beginner) - New Applicants ONLY


The Haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings.


Time: 17:45 - 19:15

Period: Every Wednesday, March 11 – May 13 (10 sessions)

Location: Korean Cultural Centre (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Beginner

Fee: $100 cash deposit (instrument rental during the course)

※ For the Haegeum class, we are only accepting applicants who have not previously been registered for the Haegeum class.

※ If there are fewer than 8 registrants, the course may be cancelled.



2. Minhwa


Minhwa is a traditional Korean folk art from the Joseon era (1392–1897), painted onto the Korean Hanji paper. Learn how to paint the vibrant world of Minhwa, reimagined through the bold, supernatural energy of the K-Pop Demon Hunters movie, featuring motifs such as the tiger and magpie.


Time: 17:30 - 19:30

Period: Every Tuesday, March 10 – May 5 (9 sessions)

Location: Korean Cultural Centre (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Open to all experience levels.

3. Hanji Craft


Hanji is a type of traditional paper that comes from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Craft everyday item made from Hanji. Join us for an immersive hands-on experience in the art of Korean Hanji mulberry paper crafts!


Time: 17:30 - 19:30

Period: Every Wednesday, March 11 – May 6 (9 sessions)

Location: Korean Cultural Centre (1410-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Open to all experience levels.

Fee: Free



4. K-Pop Dance Intermediate


This course explores the evolution of popular K-Pop groups through dance. Students will learn chorus choreographies from select groups’ debut songs and their most recent comebacks, highlighting how K-Pop performance has evolved over time.


Each week's class will focus on one song in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes clean execution and attention to detail. Prior K-Pop dance experience required.


Time: 19:00-20:30

Period: Every Wednesday, March 11 – May 13 (10 sessions)

Location: KCC (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Intermediate

Fee: Free


※ Applicants must have prior experience, as this is an intermediate-level class.






Montreal


5. Korean Traditional Dance


Korean traditional dance, with roots tracing back over five thousand years, now ranges from folk dance to newly created and adopted contemporary dance styles.


In this course, you will have the opportunity to learn a modernized form of Korean dance, combining the basic steps, breathing techniques, and movements of traditional Korean dance with contemporary elements. Build a strong foundation in Korean dance while creating your own unique dance style.


Time: 17:30-19:00

Period: Every Tuesday, March 17 - May 19 (10 sessions)

Location: Espaces des Arts (9 Rue Sainte-Catherine E, Montréal, QC H2X 1K3)

Level: Beginner

6. Janggu (Korean Drum)


Learn the fundamentals of Janggu, a traditional Korean drum, including basic rhythms (Jangdan), proper technique, and group ensemble skills through step-by-step practice.


Time: 10:00-11:30

Period: Every Saturday, March 14 -May 2 (8 sessions)

Location: The Underground Dance Centre (220 Richmond St W, Toronto, ON)

Level: Beginner

7. Korean Traditional & Contemporary Dance


This class explores contemporary dance and choreography using the movement sensibilities of Korean traditional dance as a starting point.


Set to Korean ballads and OST music, participants experience how traditional movement can expand into modern, expressive dance.


Time: 18:00-19:00

Period: Every Saturday, March 14 – May 16 (10 sessions)

Location: The Underground Dance Centre (220 Richmond St W, Toronto, ON)

Level: Open to all experience levels

Online


8. Taekwondo Beginner


Taekwondo is a martial art that originated in Korea over 2,000 years ago. This course will introduce basic Taekwondo techniques and exercises to those who are new to Taekwondo.


Time: 19:00-20:00 (ET)

Period: Every Saturday, March 14 – May 16 (10 sessions)

Location: Online (Zoom)

Level: Beginner

Fee: Free

*Required minimum age: 7



9. K-Pop Dance Beginner


This course focuses on teaching foundational movements, basic grooves, and simple transitions through step-by-step instruction, while building musicality, coordination, and confidence in a fun, supportive environment.


Time: 17:30-18:45 (ET)

Period: Every Tuesday, March 10 – May 12 (10 sessions)

Location: Online (Zoom)

Level: Beginner

Fee: Free



10. K-Pop Dance Intermediate


Students will focus on strengthening their movement quality, performance skills while learning routines with greater complexity. Prior dance experience is recommended, but motivated beginners with a strong foundation are also welcome to join.


Time: 17:30 – 18:45 (ET)

Period: Every Wednesday, March 11 – May 13 (10 sessions)

Location: Online (Zoom)

Level: Intermediate

Fee: Free

1. A separate application is required for each course.

2. Submitting an application does not automatically register you for the course.

3. Each applicant must use a unique email address. Please avoid applying for multiple individuals using a single email.

4. Photos and videos taken during the course may be used in KCC's promotional materials.

5. Priority will be given to new applicants.

6. K-Academy programs have limited spaces and are free-of-charge. As missing a session takes away an opportunity from someone else, we take attendance seriously. Therefore, anyone who fails to attend classes without a valid reason will be penalized in future registrations for all KCC programs.

7. Confirmation emails with class details are scheduled to be sent on March 4th.
