2025 Summer K-Culture Courses in Ottawa & Online




The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Summer K-Culture Courses this July.



Classes will run from July to August. This semester, we are offering Korean Traditional Crafts (with Modern Reinterpretation) as well as K-Pop Dance classes. 


Each class requires a separate registration. Please read the course details carefully before submitting your application form.



KCC (Ottawa)


1. Create Your Own Munja-do Tote Bag



Munja-do (문자도) illustrates virtues such as filial piety, loyalty, and integrity through characters adorned with symbolic animals, plants, and objects—each carrying deeper meaning.


Transform a simple tote bag into a personalized masterpiece inspired by Munja-do, the unique Korean folk painting of characters!

2. Create Your Own Traditional Korean Maedeup Bracelet 



Learn the beautiful art of Maedeup (매듭), traditional Korean knots, by crafting your own unique bracelet! Maedeup is more than just knot-tying—it's a sophisticated art form with a rich history, where each knot carries cultural significance and aesthetic beauty. These intricate knots were historically used to decorate everything from clothing and household items to ceremonial objects. Now, you can bring this elegance into a modern accessory.

3. Create Your Own Traditional Korean Fan (Buchae)



Join us to craft your own Buchae (Korean Fan)! Personalize its ample surface and handle using Hanji , the durable and beautiful Korean mulberry paper. Experience the joy of traditional Korean craftsmanship—and take home a unique, elegant traditional fan of your own!

4. Craft Your Own Najeonchilgi (Mother-of-Pearl) Griptok



Create a unique phone grip inspired by Najeonchilgi, Korea’s traditional mother-of-pearl inlay lacquerware. The mesmerizing, iridescent glow of natural mother-of-pearl adds an elegant touch. Craft your own piece of this rich cultural craft.

5. K-Pop Dance Beginner



Time: 18:30 - 20:00 (ET)

Period: Every Tuesday, July 8th - August 19th (7 sessions)

Location: Korean Cultural Centre (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Beginner

Fee: Free



6. K-Pop Dance Intermediate



Time: 18:30 - 20:00 (ET)

Period: Every Thursday, July 10th - August 21st (7 sessions)

Location: Korean Cultural Centre (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)

Level: Intermediate

Fee: Free

7. K-Pop Dance Beginner



Time: 17:00 - 18:15 (ET)

Period: Every Monday, July 7th - August 25th (7 sessions)

Level: Beginner

8. K-Pop Dance Intermediate



Time: 18:30 - 20:00 (ET)

Period: Every Wednesday, July 9th - August 20th (7 sessions)

Location: Online (Zoom)

Level: Intermediate

*IMPORTANT*

1. A separate application is required for each course. One application per person is recommended.

2. Submitting an application does not automatically register you for the course.

3. Each applicant must use a unique email address. Please avoid applying for multiple individuals using a single email.

4. Please write your FULL NAME (first and last name) in the application.

5. Photos and videos taken during the course may be used in KCC's promotional materials. 

6. Priority will be given to new applicants.

7. K-Academy programs have limited spaces and are free-of-charge. As missing a session takes away an opportunity from someone else, we take attendance seriously. Therefore, anyone who f ails to attend classes without a valid reason will be penalized in future registrations for all KCC programs.

8. Confirmation emails with class details are scheduled to be sent on July 3rd.
