2024 Spring K-Culture Courses (March-May)

The Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to announce that the 2024 Spring K-Culture Courses will start in March.
The classes will start in March and end in May.
We are introducing Korean music, dance, tea and art classes in Ottawa and Toronto this semester.
Please read the course details carefully before submitting your application form.
KCC (Ottawa)
1. Danso

The danso is a Korean notched, end-blown vertical bamboo flute used in Korean folk music.
Time: 19:00 - 20:30 (ET)
Period: Every Thursday, March 7 – May 30 (12 sessions)
Location: KCC (101-150 Elgin St, Ottawa)
Fee: $10 (the instrument), Cash only
2. Haegeum

The haegeum is a traditional Korean string instrument, resembling a vertical fiddle with two strings.
Time: 17:30 - 19:00 (ET)
Period: Every Thursday, March 7 – May 30 (12 sessions)

3. Sagunja

The plum blossom, orchid, chrysanthemum and bamboo are referred to as the Four Gracious Plants. The classical scholars of the Joseon dynasty era called Seonbi projected their spirit of life on the four plants called Sagunja in Korean.

4. Minhwa

Minhwa means popular painting or people's art and is traditional Korean folk art from the Chosun era (1392-1910) painted onto paper or on canvas.

5. Nanta

Nanta is a traditional style of drumming dramatizing the rhythms of Samulnori using the traditional Korean barrel drum called Buk.

6. Geommu

Geommu is a traditional sword dance practiced in Korea.
Time: 18:00 - 20:00 (ET)
Period: Every Wednesday, March 6 – May 29 (12 sessions)

7. K-Pop Dance Beginner

Time: 15:00 - 16:30 (ET)
Period: Every Monday, March 4 – June 3 (12 sessions)

8. K-Pop Dance Intermediate

Please note that this course is intended for participants with previous experience.

9. Korean Tea

Time: 19:00 - 20:00 (ET)
Period: Every Wednesday, March 6 – May 22 (12 sessions)

10. Pansori

Time: 18:30 - 20:00 (ET)
Period: Every Wednesday (Monday for the last two weeks), March 6 – May 20 (12 sessions)

11. Online K-Pop Dance Beginner
