The Korean Cultural Centre Canada is pleased to present DOKEBI, a Toronto-based Korean fusion band rooted in traditional Korean music.

DOKEBI

Dokebi is a Toronto-based Korean fusion band rooted in traditional Korean music. The four-piece (Sangah Lee on pansori vocals, Jay Yoo on guitar, Sienna on piano and flute, and Kklily on Korean percussion) draws from the deep well of Korean traditional sound to create music that is both gripping and playful, spanning from the raw intensity of traditional Korean forms to the softer edges of contemporary pop.

DOKEBI brings together original music inspired by Korean traditions, traditional repertoire, and popular K-pop covers in a vibrant and accessible concert experience.

Named after the playful and spirited Korean folkloric goblin (dokkaebi), the band's music is energetic, expressive, and full of character—offering something for both longtime fans of Korean culture and those discovering Korean music for the first time.

Several members of DOKEBI will also be performing at the Ottawa Jazz Festival this summer. This concert offers audiences a unique opportunity to experience the diversity of Korean music, from traditional sounds and original fusion compositions to contemporary interpretations and K-pop covers, in an intimate setting.
