About Sangjaru

SANGJARU, is a Korean folk fusion band that merges traditional Korean music with gypsy swing, funk, rock, and improv. Its name derives from two Korean words, ‘sangja’ (box) and ‘jaru’ (sack). Through a blend of diverse musical influences, Sangjaru creates innovative cultural expressions that are both unique and exciting. In the early days of its formation, Sangjaru used 'Beopgo Changsin'(review the old and learn the new) as its motto, and as a way to develop it, they traveled not only in Korea but also all over the world to learn, experience, and study regional rhythms in the field.

Modernizing Tradition 'Storyteller Box House'

Traditional art, which shows a strong tendency to preserve, has limitations of change due to its characteristics, but Sangjaru solves these limitations by storytelling their stories. Sangjaru has been building its own identity by meeting the audience with new works or collaboration such as <Camino de Sangjaru>, <KOREAN GIPSY>, and <The Sack of Gipsy>.
