Modern Table <VELOCITY> Performance
The Korean Cultural Centre, KOCIS, and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea are pleased to present <Velocity> by Modern Table, a Korean Contemporary Dance Performance on February 22nd at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo, BC, and in Ottawa on February 24th at the Babs Asper Theatre, National Arts Centre.
The <VELOCITY> performance, composed of 9 male dancers and 3 traditional musicians, is an interpretation of various motions and speed with the human body. Choreographed by Kim Jae Duk, this piece expresses three different motions of ‘velocity’, featuring emphasized lines through movements that are dynamic and curvy. The bold body movements created through the interaction with the air and the dynamism changes via various rhythms allows the audience to immerse and feel the change in velocity. As a special feature, the performance is also weaved together by the sounds of improvised presentation of the ajaeng (a seven-stringed Korean traditional instrument used in court music).
