Aug 25, 2023 | 204 Hit

The Korean Cultural Centre is pleased to host the Artist-In-Residency Program for two visiting artists of inspiration, Pixel Hyunwoo Kim and Michelle Bennie. This program is co-hosted with the National accessArts Centre in Calgary and the Korea Foundation.

- Date: Wednesday, September 6 ~ Tuesday, September 12, 2023

- Venue: Korean Cultural Centre

- Participating artists: Pixel Hyunwoo Kim and Michelle Bennie

About the artists:

Pixel Hyunwoo Kim

Pixel Kim, born KIM Hyunwoo in Seoul in 1995, explores the replication and motifs of “the pixel” through practice. He expresses his unique perception of the world through formals composition and repetitive documentary motifs, such as mathematical formula and musical standards. Pixel Kim continues to extend this formal practice from its two-dimensional origins, now moving towards sculpture.

Michelle Bennie

You can see a giant ocean and a prince riding a unicorn with wings flying over the moon. I feel like I’m floating through the air, being whisked away through the clouds in a fairy tale world of magical colours and a unicorn with beautiful flowers in the air. It also makes me think about going to the beach & relaxing.
