2026 LTI Korea Translation Award for Aspiring Translators
The 2026 LTI Korea Translation Award for Aspiring Translators seeks to discover emerging talent in Korean literary and cultural content translation who will serve as a bridge between Korean and global literatures. We look forward to your interest and participation.

ㅇ Eligibility
Category | Requirements |
Literature | Applications are welcome from translators of all nationalities who have not yet received an official translation grant or published a translated work of Korean literature in their target language. (Applicants whose previous translations only appeared in LTI Korea Translation Academy and/or Translation Atelier collections are eligible for the literary translation category.) |
Film | Applications are welcome from translators of all nationalities who have not translated more than one set of subtitles for media content (films, TV dramas, etc.) released in theaters, film festivals, or through OTT services such as Netflix, Watcha, YouTube Originals, etc. |
Webtoon | Applications are welcome from translators of all nationalities who have not translated more than one webtoon/webcomic, whether published in print or on an online platform. |
※ Co-translations are not accepted.
※ Multiple applications are not permitted and will result in immediate disqualification.
※ Applicants may submit their application in only one language and must choose from one of three genres: Literature, Film, or Webtoon.
※ Previous winners are ineligible to win again in the same genre.
※ Should any form of plagiarism, third-party, or machine-assisted translation be confirmed, the award may be revoked.
ㅇ Settexts
※ Only one translation manuscript of the designated work should be submitted.
※ Due to copyright issues, please purchase the settexts as a paper book or an e-book (Literature), or purchase/subscribe (Film and Webtoon).
※ Page information in the table is based on the paper book. For e-books, please translate the entire short story regardless of page information.

ㅇ Submission Requirements
1) Application form filled out and submitted through the KLWAVE platform (https://klwave.or.kr).
2) Translation manuscript:
– Literature: Please upload the translation manuscript in PDF format.
– Film & Webtoon: Please download and complete the designated form from our website or KLWAVE platform.
※ The entire text including the title must be translated.
※ Personal information (name, school, address, etc.) must not appear anywhere on the submitted manuscript.
※ Applications are not accepted by email or post.
ㅇ Prize
– One winner will be selected per language category.
– Each winner will be awarded 5,000,000 KRW and a plaque.
※ The prize for overseas residents includes a trip to Seoul (round-trip airfare and accommodation) to attend the award ceremony.
ㅇ Application Period
2026. 5. 1 ~ 2026. 6. 30. 23:59 (KST)
※ All dates and times are based on Korean Standard Time (KST). Applications submitted after this time will be immediately disqualified.
ㅇ Announcement of Results
December 2026 (Winners will be notified individually.)
