This summer, prepare for an unforgettable experience of Korean culture, food, art, and entertainment!


The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Centre are pleased to invite the public to a 2-week series of cultural events in Ottawa from June 23rd to July 7th, ranging from live performances, an all-out culture festival to workshops and film screenings and much more. There is bound to be at least one event for you and your whole family to enjoy, learn, and share in the wonderful offerings of Korean culture during KOREA WEEK 2018!


Experience traditional food, arts and crafts, and games in one stop at the KOREAN CULTURE FAIR featuring the highly-anticipated ‘Hansik Contest,’ a Korean cook-off for top local chefs with the ultimate winner given a ticket to Korea! We will also cheer on the Korean national football team as they take on Mexico at the 2018 World Cup Russia.


Check out the energetic K-Pop cover dance teams of Canada as they compete for a spot at the Final Round of the K-POP WORLD FESTIVAL to take place in Korea this fall. And don’t forget to reserve your seats to see DONG RAK Traditional Performing Arts Group take stage in Ottawa, an upbeat performance with Korean traditional percussions sure to lift your spirits high up in the air!


You can also watch the latest Korean blockbuster film ALONG WITH THE GODS, or find out what the hype is all about for Korean dramas at the K-DRAMA SCREENINGS to see if you can resist the binge!


Are you into something more educational and spiritually healing? Then you should attend free workshops on the Korean traditional martial art TAEKWONDO and a lesson on BADUK (GO), a popular East Asian boardgame to challenge your friends and yourself.


All events are free admission and RSVP is necessary for most events.

2018: A SPECIAL YEAR TO REMEMBER KOREA-CANADA FRIENDSHIP


The year 2018 marks an important anniversary for Korea-Canada friendship as we commemorate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 65th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice in which 27,000 Canadian soldiers participated to forge an everlasting bond between Korea and Canada. 

We also commemorate the 130th anniversary of the first arrival of Canadian missionaries to Korea, who went on to make positive impacts on social, medical, and historical changes to Korea.

ABOUT THE KOREAN CULTURAL CENTRE


The Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) is a government institution established in September 2016 under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada, as part of a network of more than 30 Korean Cultural Centres around the globe. The mandate of the KCC is to enhance Korea-Canada relations by promoting mutual understanding between Koreans and Canadians through the sharing of Korean culture, and facilitating bilateral cooperation between arts and cultural institutions.


The KCC aims to connect with Canadians by hosting and supporting a variety of cultural activities including exhibitions, performances, film screenings, festivals, cultural and language classes, as well as outreach programs. To this end, the KCC will work to collaborate with various arts and cultural institutions and communities across Canada to provide Canadians with memorable experiences of Korean culture.
