[Virtual K-Culture #43] Online Film Screenings from the Korean Film Archive on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War

Jun 24, 2020 | 386 Hit

The Korean Cultural Centre joins all Koreans around the world in recognizing and expressing sincere gratitude for Canadian veterans of the Korean War, especially as we mark the 70th anniversary of the start of the Korean War on June 25th.

To commemorate this anniversary, the KCC is pleased to introduce a special online screening of 5 classic Korean films set in the Korean War, curated by the Korean Film Archive.

The 5 films are: <A Bouquet of Thirty Million People (Shin Kyeong-gyun, 1951)>, <The Marines Who Never Returned (Lee Man-hui, 1963)>, <Rainy Days (Yu Hyun-mok, 1979)>, <Jagko (Im Kwon-Taek, 1980)>, and <North Korean Partisan in South Korea (Chung Ji-young, 1990)>. Among these films, <A Bouquet of Thirty Million People> is the oldest film set in the Korean War, which was uncovered by the Korean Film Archive without audio.

We would like to take this opportunity to once again remember the sacred sacrifice and contribution of Canada’s Korean War Veterans, and in hoping for lasting peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula in the days to come.

*Please enjoy the films by clicking on the still-shots below.
