[Virtual K-Culture #12] “The Square: Art and Society in Korea 1900-2019 Part 2” Gallery Tour Presented by MMCA
Following the first visual art screening of Virtual K-Culture “<The Square: Art and Society 1900~2019> PART 1: 1900-1950 Live Gallery Tour with Curator” last week, the Korean Cultural Centre is please to introduce the second part of the exhibition to you.
<The Square: Art and Society 1900~2019> PART 2: 1950~2019 was held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) Gwacheon from October 17, 2019 to March 29th, 2020. The exhibition presents more than 400 art pieces of all genres created by some 220 artists including Pen Varlen, Park Sookeun, Chang Uc-chin, Yoo Youngkuk, Suh Doho, Lee Bul, and Christian Boltanski along with 300 related materials.
The Square PART 2 reframes the interrelations of Korean society and Korean contemporary art as part of the 50th Anniversary Exhibition of the MMCA. The exhibition reveals the circulation of artists and their works amid societal contexts and personal lives, thus visualizing the chronological flow of time through art works and archival materials.
The Live Tour of the Square Part 2 exhibition is lead by Soojung Kang, Head of Exhibition Department 1 at MMCA.
